KUKA Robotic Integration – Silicone
KUKA Robotic Integration – Silicone Application (Sidewall Roughing)
Almida Russia
2 projects
The project aimed to integrate an industrial KUKA robot into an application dedicated to silicone application on the sidewall areas of products (sidewall roughing), used in component processing and finishing industries. The scope included the design of the robotic cell, mechanical path configuration, and the development of an advanced motion program to ensure precision, repeatability, and uniform coverage on complex surfaces.
The robot was equipped with a controlled material dispensing system, and a dedicated PLC was integrated with the KUKA controller to synchronize work cycles, monitor parameters, and manage operating modes. The ability to adjust motion dynamics, pressure, material flow rate, and working distance enabled process optimization for different product types.
The HMI interface provides access to process settings, rapid diagnostics, program selection, and real-time robot status monitoring. Through robotic integration, Almida Russia achieved a significant increase in application consistency, reduction of human errors, shorter cycle times, and improved final product quality.
The solution offers a high level of flexibility and allows rapid adaptation to production changes, being fully scalable for expansion to additional automation lines.
